Our Romantic Curaçao Getaway: 4-Day Baecation Diary
This trip was everything I didn’t know I needed—sunshine, beach waves, soft life energy, and celebrating another year around the sun with the love of my life. If you’re planning a birthday trip or a romantic island escape, Curaçao should definitely be on your list. Here’s a full breakdown of our 4-day baecation, complete with tips, personal reviews, and budget breakdowns.
🌎 Flight Details
Flight Cost from Los Angeles: $1500
We booked through Delta and although the price was a bit steep, it was worth every penny for the views, vibes, and the experience of celebrating in paradise.
🚗 Rental Car
Company: Budget Car Rental (Curaçao Intl. Airport)
Total Price: $300 + $35 gas
We rented from Budget and it was super affordable and convenient. Gas was also cheap—we only spent $35 for the entire trip. Highly recommend if you want to explore the island at your own pace. (Limited Ubers)
🏨 Hotel Stay
Hotel: Saint Tropez Boutique Hotel
Booked via: Expedia
Total Price: $1,108 + $100 for a celebration package
We got upgraded to the Deluxe King Room with an oceanfront view and a balcony. I’m talking waves crashing as your sleep soundtrack—dreamy! The rooms were clean and modern, and the service was amazing. If you love a lively atmosphere, this hotel is perfect (they have weekend beach parties that go until 1 AM). If you're looking for quiet and zen, this might not be the spot.
Only con? The spiral staircase to the rooms—get ready to hike. The hotel also offers a $100 celebration package that includes room decor, champagne, and a custom cake. So cute!
My Rating: 8.5/10
🌇 Thursday (03/20): Arrival & Dinner
✈️ Landed in Curaçao at 2:00 PM
🚗 Picked up our rental car
🏨 Checked into Saint Tropez Boutique Hotel (3:00 PM)
🍽 Dinner: Sea Side Terrace Restaurant ($)
Because we had a 10+ hour travel day, we kept it simple and went to a local gem, Sea Side Terrace. It’s locally owned, super affordable, and has a beautiful ocean view. Perfect for unwinding after a long travel day.
Food Budget: $80
Actual Spend: $60
Rating: 9/10
☀️ Friday (03/21): Exploring Willemstad & Beach Day
🍳 Breakfast: Saint Tropez (included, but bland)
🌆 Sightseeing: Punda, Willemstad
🥗 Lunch: Plaza Bieu ($)
🌴 Mambo Beach (shopping, lounging, beach day)
🍽 Dinner: Dal Toro Restaurant (Reservation needed)
🍻 Nightlife: Saint Tropez Ocean Club
We walked around downtown Willemstad, visited local vendors and the floating market, and saw the iconic Queen Emma Bridge. Mambo Beach was perfect for a little rest before dinner. Dal Toro had amazing views and great food—definitely book in advance!
Food + Shopping Budget: $300
Actual Spend: $210
Rating: 9/10
🚣 Saturday (03/22): Boat Day & Ocean Adventure
🌊 Excursion: Klein Boat Charter
🍽 Dinner: Cascada Rooftop (need reservation, but got seated)
This was our main excursion and totally worth it. Klein Curaçao (aka "Little Curaçao") has the softest white sand and the clearest water I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t stay out of the ocean. The charter came with breakfast and lunch—both surprisingly delicious.
Cascada Rooftop gave more lounge/nightclub vibes with finger foods and drinks.
Excursion Price: $270
Food Budget: $100
Actual Spend: $330
Rating: 9.7/10 for the boat day, 8/10 for dinner
🏕 Sunday (03/23): Beach Hopping & Birthday Dinner
🏖 Grote Knip: $15 for two chairs + $1 bathroom (free parking)
🏖 Cas Abao: $7 parking on Sunday, free chairs (first come first served)
🍽 Dinner: Mood Beach (Reservation at 6 PM)
This was my actual birthday and it was everything. We hit two iconic beaches: Grote Knip and Cas Abao. Both were gorgeous, but I personally preferred Grote Knip—less crowded, more natural beauty, and better vibes.
Mood Beach was the perfect upscale vibe to celebrate. Great service, beautiful setup, and a nice place to dress up. Just note: the portions are small, but the presentation is top tier. Definitely tell them you're celebrating!
Beach + Food Budget: $350
Actual Spend: $262
Rating: 10/10 birthday vibes, 9.7/10 for Mood Beach
✈️ Monday (03/24): Departure Day
⏳ Check out: 12 PM
🛫 3:09 PM Flight back to LA
We kept it chill on our last day. Grabbed brunch, returned the rental, and treated ourselves to the VIP airport lounge—worth it. I do wish we had one more day to explore more of the island, but I left feeling so full (emotionally, not food-wise because the airport food was mid).
Final Day Budget: $100
Actual Spend: $169
🌪 Final Thoughts
Curaçao was the perfect mix of romantic, exciting, and relaxing. This trip will forever be a core memory—my birthday baecation was that girl. If you’re looking to book a trip that gives you clear waters, Caribbean culture, cute boutique hotels, and memories with your person… this is it. Just stay longer if you can.
Overall Budget Range: $1,000-$1,400
